The most interesting region for ski touring is the area of the Eastern part of Issyk Kul lake near Karakol city.
Issyk Kul lake is located at the altitude 1600m above the sea level. Its length is 180 km, and width is 70 km. The deepest place is 700 meters. The lake is surrounded by 2 mountain ranges.
Western part of basin is dry, rains are very rare, in winter there’s almost no snow. All air masses carried by the winds to the Eastern part, to Karakol.
Here, the high mountains prevent the further advance of clouds, and most of the rain falling is on the northern slopes of Terskey Ala-Too. Climate combined with mountainous terrain provides ideal conditions for the development of winter sports.
Infrastructure that is not enough developed opens endless possibilities for off-piste and ski touring.
Winter weather also contributes to a comfortable journey. The proximity of the lake creates soft microclimate without strong winds and extremely low temperatures. Number of sunny days prevails over the bad weather days. Large cyclones are rare and short, and light snowfall also allowed to walk and ride.
Program:
Day 1 Arrival to Bishkek. Transfer to Irdyk valley by south side of Issyk Kul lake. 6 km before the Yurt camp we will stop. As there is no road. We will go by ski and our luggage will be transferred by snowcats. Diner and night in yurt.
Day 2 Full day of ski touring. Lunch in the mountains. Dinner. Overnight in yurts.
Day 3 Full day of ski touring. Lunch in the mountains. Dinner. Overnight in yurts.
Day 4 Full day of ski touring. Lunch in the mountains. Dinner. Overnight in yurts.
Day 5 Full day of ski touring. Lunch in the mountains. Dinner. Overnight in yurts.
Day 6 Full day of ski touring. Lunch in the mountains. Dinner. Overnight in yurts.
Day 7 Transfer to Bishkek. Lunch on the way. Accommodation in hotel. Farewell dinner.
Day 8 Transfer to the airport. End of program.
If you do not want to stay all the time at the same place we can ofer you as well other valley – Djergalan. There is a Guest house, so you can stay some days in Irdyk and some days in Djergalan.

The program notes:
The tour is made for confident off-piste skiers. The ski area is very extensive, steep slopes of 20 to 35 degrees. Elevation changes of up to 1200 meters. The instructor chooses the way of ascent and descent according to the group’s skills and preferences of the participants. We offer programs of ski tours for both, experienced free riders and those who are just beginning to explore the backcountry skiing.
