A 9-day highland journey through the wild heart of Tajikistan

There are routes that show you mountains — and there are routes that let you live inside them.
This is one of the latter.

The Fann Mountains FT5 trek is a carefully designed expedition connecting Dushanbe with legendary Samarkand, crossing high alpine passes, turquoise lakes, remote valleys, and authentic mountain villages. Over 9 days, you will traverse some of the most scenic and least crowded terrain in Central Asia — supported by a full logistics team, yet preserving the spirit of true adventure.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Dushanbe → Varzob

Meet at the airport in Dushanbe and transfer to the green Varzob valley.
Light acclimatization and rest.


Day 2 — Varzob → Iskanderkul Lake

Drive to the legendary Iskanderkul Lake — one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in Central Asia.
Overnight in guesthouse.


Day 3 — Iskanderkul Exploration

Short hike to the powerful waterfall known as “Niagara of the Fanns.”
Relax by the lake and prepare for the trekking phase.


Day 4 — Trek Begins → Dukdon Base Camp

Gradual ascent toward Dukdon Pass.
Wild alpine scenery, first real immersion into the mountains.
Camp under the pass.


Day 5 — Dukdon Pass (3810 m) → Archamajdan → Pushtikul

A panoramic crossing of one of the highest points of the trek.
Descent into a remote valley and arrival at Pushtikul Lake.


Day 6 — Munora Pass (3520 m) → Sarymat Valley

A steady climb followed by a scenic descent into a quiet, untouched valley.
Camp near the river.


Day 7 — Tavasang Pass (3330 m) → Azorchashma

Cross the third pass and reach the mystical Seventh Lake — Azorchashma.
Camp by the water.


Day 8 — Exploration Day

Rest day with optional hike into Darahti-Surh Gorge — dramatic red-rock formations and hidden landscapes.


Day 9 — Marguzor Lakes → Samarkand

Descent to the famous Seven Lakes (Marguzor) chain.
Transfer across the border and arrival in Samarkand.
